Tune-Up Service — B&B Auto Repair
Restore Performance & Efficiency — Since 1983
The classic “tune-up” has evolved since the 1980s, but the principle is the same: keep the ignition system, fuel system, and intake working at their best so the engine makes full power, gets its rated fuel economy, and runs clean. At B&B Auto Repair, a tune-up isn’t a rubber-stamp service — it’s a targeted package of replacements based on what your specific vehicle actually needs at its current mileage.
Our ASE Certified technicians handle spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel filters, air filters, PCV valves, throttle body cleaning, and induction service on domestic, Japanese, European, and diesel vehicles. Unlike the dealership — where a “tune-up” often means replacing a long list of items whether they’re worn or not — we replace what’s actually due and leave the rest alone. Kitsap County drivers have trusted B&B for engine maintenance since 1983.

I appreciate B & B Auto Repair's professionalism and promptness. They have helped me out massively, on a few occasions with my vehicle. Very notably, when I needed a pre-purchase inspection done on a vehicle, they were able to help me same day, though that was not an expected or normal task to add me in so quickly. It made a world of difference to help me through my rough times of having a broken down vehicle and needing to buy another.Posted on Google![]()

We have recently had both my van and my husband's car inspected and repaired by B&B Auto Repair. Both experiences were excellent. The work on my vehicle appears to have resulted in better gas mileage, both highway and local use. B&B just replaced a defective part after several week of use at no cost to me and at my convenience.Posted on Google![]()

Targeted tune-up service — replace only what's actually due.
Serving Bremerton, Silverdale, and All of Kitsap County
B&B Auto Repair is located at 299 South National Avenue in Bremerton. Drivers from Silverdale, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, and across the Kitsap Peninsula bring us their engines for tune-up service because we do the job carefully and only replace what actually needs replacing.
Kitsap County driving — especially short commutes to the shipyard, frequent cold starts, and stop-and-go traffic — creates conditions where spark plug fouling, carbon buildup, and fuel system deposits accumulate faster than on highway-heavy driving. Periodic tune-up service keeps these issues in check.
The B&B Difference: Targeted Tune-Up Service
When a dealership quotes you a $900 “Major Service” at 60,000 miles, do you know exactly what’s being replaced? And is all of it really due yet? At B&B, we itemize every service on your estimate so you know what you’re paying for and why. If a line item isn’t due on your specific vehicle, we don’t include it.
Call or text B&B Auto Repair at (360) 377-0682 to schedule your tune-up. We’ll restore performance and fuel economy — at a fraction of dealership pricing.
Why the Modern Tune-Up Isn’t What It Used to Be
Thirty years ago, a tune-up meant points, condenser, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and a carburetor adjustment — every 15,000 miles. Modern vehicles have eliminated most of those parts. What remains is a smaller but still important list: spark plugs (typically every 60,000–100,000 miles on platinum/iridium), ignition coils (replaced as-failed, not as-routine), fuel filters (sealed in-tank on many vehicles), air filters, PCV valves, and periodic throttle body or induction service.
Dealerships often bundle all of these into one expensive “Major Service” regardless of whether each item is actually worn. At B&B Auto Repair, we check each item individually and tell you what your engine actually needs at its current mileage and condition. You don’t pay for maintenance you don’t need.
When Does Your Vehicle Actually Need a Tune-Up?
- Rough idle or misfire — Often a failing ignition coil, spark plug, or fuel injector. Diagnostics identify the exact cylinder.
- Reduced fuel economy — Can be spark plugs, O2 sensors, a clogged air filter, or carbon buildup on intake valves.
- Hesitation on acceleration — Frequently a fuel delivery or ignition issue.
- Check engine light — P0300-series misfire codes, P02XX fuel trim codes, and P01XX sensor codes all point to tune-up-adjacent systems.
- Mileage milestones — 60,000, 100,000, and 150,000 miles are common trigger points for spark plug replacement and other scheduled items.

We Get It Done Right
What Our Bremerton Customers Ask Most
It depends on your specific vehicle. Most platinum or iridium spark plugs are good for 60,000–100,000 miles; ignition coils are replaced as-failed; fuel and air filters have their own intervals. We’ll look up your vehicle’s exact schedule and recommend what’s due based on actual mileage and condition.
Pricing varies significantly based on which components are actually due. A simple 4-cylinder spark plug service can be a few hundred dollars; a V6 with difficult-to-access rear plugs can be more. We provide an itemized quote before any work begins.
It depends on the code. Misfire codes (P0300-series) often resolve after spark plug or coil replacement. Fuel trim codes (P0171/P0174) can point to air filter, intake, or fuel delivery issues. We scan your codes first and diagnose before recommending parts.
Diesel engines don’t use spark plugs but benefit from scheduled maintenance including fuel filter replacement, glow plug service, air filter replacement, and periodic injector cleaning. We handle diesel maintenance on Cummins, Power Stroke, Duramax, and passenger diesel engines.
Yes. All tune-up service at B&B is backed by our 2-Year / 24,000-Mile warranty on parts and labor.
